The deep experience and valuable connections
of a global search firm. The quality, flexibility and
hands-on focus of a boutique consultancy.
But no glossy brochure. Sorry.
In creating MorinBarton, we’ve brought together the best of several worlds: sophisticated global executive search, highly personalized boutique consulting and client-side human resources strategy. These are worlds that we know inside out.

MorinBarton’s founding partners, Michelle Morin and Tori Barton, first worked together at a high-profile international search firm in the mid-1990s. In our subsequent career paths, we’ve developed a wealth of complementary expertise that’s reflected in our shared values and our vision for MorinBarton — as a firm that strives to set a new standard for excellence in executive search by helping clients find the talent they need to realize their own vision.

Our hands-on, collegial approach reflects
the well-matched strengths of our two founders: Michelle has held client-side
HR consulting roles. Tori has worked and lived overseas. Michelle is certified in executive assessment. Tori has coached senior international executives. Michelle is a bit more left-brain. Tori is a bit more right. Michelle wanted to link this page to a Harvard Business Review article. Tori wanted to include a quote from Bono. Michelle uses a PC. Tori uses a Mac
(and is trying to get Michelle to
convert, of course).
Michelle Morin
Michelle Morin
Founding Partner
Michelle brings more than 20 years
of experience in executive search and human resources strategy to the MorinBarton partnership. Applying insights gained as both a consultant
and a client, she’s developed an executive search model that reflects the day-to-day realities and longer-term priorities of business. Her focus is on helping companies build competitive advantage by being more strategic in recruiting top talent.

Michelle has helped to place CEOs, CFOs and other senior executives with some of Canada’s most respected companies. She also has deep expertise in talent management, with a focus on com-
petitive benchmarking, talent audits, executive assessment and succession planning. Previously a vice president with international search firm Spencer Stuart, she has also had senior human resources roles in the financial services industry, specializing in HR strategy, talent management and diversity.

Michelle has long been an active con-
tributor to the not-for-profit sector, including as a director of the St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation in Toronto. She has a BA from the University of Western Ontario and pursued graduate studies in human resources development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto.

Tori Barton
Tori Barton
Founding Partner
Tori brings nearly two decades of experience in executive search to the MorinBarton partnership. She has advised senior leaders at the board level across a wide range of industries. Her extensive background also has international dimensions, including assignments throughout North America and a decade working abroad in the UK and Europe. In addition, she has been an executive coach and advisor to clients in Canada and overseas.

Tori began her career with Toronto-based Caldwell Partners, where she was immersed in the rigour and discipline of the research process. She moved as a search consultant to Spencer Stuart — initially in Toronto, then overseas in the global consultancy’s London office. Most recently she was a director with the highly regarded UK firm Saxton Bampfylde, where she led the consumer retail practice group, built and managed a 20-person research team and sat on the Board of Directors.

Tori’s unique approach to executive search grounds a deep understanding of business in the human insights and clinical training she gained through an education in the social sciences. She has a BA from Queen’s University, a BSW from McGill University and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Toronto.
